If you plan on including allergen alerts on your labels as allergen declarations, please ensure that they adhere to the allergen labelling regulations set out by your region's governing body. Information on the US FDA's regulations can be found here, and Canada's CFIA regulations here.
Allergen information is a valuable component of nutritional labelling for consumers, and is highly regulated in many countries. Due to variation in allergen labelling regulations, FlexiBake does not include auto-generated allergen declarations on labels. However, you can still add the appropriate information using allergen alerts.
Allergen alerts are user-defined, allowing you to customize the wording, format and content to comply with your region's requirements. To accurately reflect allergen information, these must be set manually for individual products.
To add an allergen alert to a product:
- In the Inventory Centre, click on Maintain Products.
- Open a product by locating it in the list, then either double clicking it or single clicking and then clicking the Edit button in the bottom left corner.
- In the top right corner, click on the Product Specs button.
- Enter the allergen message you would like to show up on the label in the Allergen Alert field.
- Click OK to save.
Once this is completed for all necessary products, you can add the alert to your labels. For a tutorial on including the allergen alert field in your label templates, see our article Add An Allergen Alert or Declaration to a Label Template.
