This tutorial requires that individual taxes be defined in your system, which can be done using the tutorial Set Sales Taxes.
You will also need to Enable Sales Taxes on your system.
Often, sales taxes consist of a state/provincial tax and a separate federal tax. How these are applied to products, or if they are applied, can vary based on a number of different factors, such as the type of product being sold, if the customer is purchasing in wholesale or retail, or the location of the customer. To manage all these factors, you can create tax profiles, which will dictate which taxes are applied to a sale and which products they apply to. For example, if wholesale items are exempt from state/provincial tax, you might make a Wholesale tax profile which only applies the federal tax, and a Retail tax profile that applies both taxes.
To create a new tax profile in FlexiBake:
-
- Navigate to the Menu Bar, then to the Administration drop down then the Maintain Sales Tax Profiles button.
- On the pop up click the Tax Profile... button in the top left corner.
- A second window will pop up. In it, select the New button.
- Enter in a Code and Description for the tax profile, then click OK on both windows to save the record and return to the previous screen.
- At the bottom of the screen, you can assign individual taxes to your Tax Profile by clicking the drop-down next to the Tax... button. Click Add to add your selected tax to your selected Tax Profile, and click OK to save.
- Navigate to the Menu Bar, then to the Administration drop down then the Maintain Sales Tax Profiles button.
